ABRACA NEWSLETTER 19/12/2025 - ENGLISH VERSION

Nederlandse Versie / Version Français

Dear ABRACA members,

The end of the year is close now, but ABRACA still has a few things planned before it’s over. We hope your holiday schedule isn’t too busy to fit them in!

This will, however, be the last big newsletter of the year. Which is why we wish you happy holidays and a good end of the year from the whole ABRACA team!

This time we’ll talk about the following:

ABRACA GENERAL ASSEMBLY:

Towards the end of January next year, ABRACA will hold its general assembly. This means a lot of changes are coming. In contrast to normal board meetings, the general assembly is open to ABRACA members and a formal invitation specifying the time, date and place will be sent out soon. If you are interested in getting a look into the inner workings of ABRACA, you are welcome to join us there. We will be talking about everything we’ve done in the past year, and the future of our organisation.

Open Call: ABRACA Coordinator:

ABRACA is looking to hire a part-time worker to help us with the coordination of our organisation. Further details and specifics can be found here:

In short, we are looking for someone who is comfortable following up with the day-to-day and general coordination of our federation. You would be working one day per week, with a gross compensation of €130/day.

This wouldn’t be a position on the board itself, but you would be working in close collaboration with them.

The profile we are searching for is also bilingual, with a mastery of both Dutch and French. You would be working in-person in Brussels at least once a week.

If this sounds interesting, please have a look at the full job posting!

Recruiting List on the ABRACA Website:

To help Studios find suitable candidates to work with, as well as helping our members find their way to animation productions more easily, ABRACA would like to post a list of our members on our website. Recruiters would then be able to refer to the list in case they are searching for a good fit for their projects!

If you would like to be on the list, be sure to gather your work! We’ll send out an e-mail to our members soon to confirm if you would like to be included!

Info evening with Mediarte:

Thursday evening on the 12th of February 2026, ABRACA is organising an info evening in collaboration with Mediarte and Amplo.

During this info evening we will focus on the intricacies of working in the creative sector and will address subjects like your rights when working via interim or on short term contracts, freelance vs payroll, what kinds of compensations you can get for public transport, working from home and much more! This info evening will be held in Dutch.

Because the venue only has space for a limited number of people, we would ask you to confirm your presence via our online form.

You can fill in the form here

This info evening will be held in Gent, at Pentagon, on the 12th of February 2026 at 19u.

If you are a French speaker, no worries! In May 2026 we will host this same event in Brussels.

ABRACA at ANIMA:

Most of the 2026 edition of ANIMA is still under wraps, but we’d like to reveal to you a tiny tip of the iceberg already. During the last edition of ANIMA, we organised a drink to celebrate the anniversary of our organisation. We’d like to continue that tradition this year!

So hereby, you are formally invited to join ABRACA for another drink on the Monday evening on the 23rd of February!

More details to follow soon, but you can already save the date.

ABRACA at the ENSORS:

We’re happy to announce that ABRACA is now an official board member of the annual Ensors, Flanders’ biggest filmprize!

We will now be able to work towards more representation and inclusion for animated productions and creators in the various categories. ABRACA member Lauri Saunders, supported by Tom Lemmens,  will also be sitting in this year’s jury for the short film category.

We’re rooting for the ABRACA animation creators who have submitted their work!

The Gala of the Ensors will be held on Saturday the 7th of Februari.

As always, thank you for your continued interest and support! We hope you have a good end of the year.

If you are excited to become an ABRACA member, you can join us through this link. Membership is paid, but we work through voluntary contributions. This means you are not held to a standard subscription tariff, but are instead encouraged to give what you are willing and able to. On average, we recommend 5 euro as a student, and 20 euro as a professional. Like mentioned earlier, you will be able to benefit from access to ABRACA exclusive events that we’re actively organising. If becoming a member seems too big of a step for you right now, you’re always welcome to join the discussion on our Discord.  Either way, you’ve already been a big help by being interested in our wonderful community!
